Dr. Barbara Keys Owner, Optometrist
An Ohio native, Dr. Keys received her degree from Ohio State College of Optometry in 1987. She relocated to Fairbanks in 1994 as her husband was stationed at Eielson AFB. She loves working in optometry, and has worked in an ophthalmologist's office, corporate optometry, HMOs, veteran's homes and now private practice. With Jim and Salley Rothmeyer, she formed West Valley Vision Center in 1997; three years later she purchased the practice. Her part-time schedule allows her to spend time with two very busy sons.
Dr. Michael MavencampOwner, Optometrist
Dr. Mavencamp has lived in Fairbanks for years, and is a member of Monroe High School's class of 1993. He studied biology at St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas, graduating with honors in 1998. Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, granted him a Doctorate in Optometry in 2005. Today he happily practices optometry at West Valley Vision Center. He lives in Fairbanks with his wife, Meredith, and three children.
Dr. Brannon MillsOwner, Optometrist
In addition to passing part of his childhood in rural southern Oregon, Dr. Mills was also a missionary kid in Africa. He received his B.A. in history from California's Biola University. After working in the timber industry, he returned to school at Pacific University in Oregon and got a Doctorate in Optometry. He has worked as an optometrist in both Alaska and Idaho. He and his wife have three delightful children, and the family spends time traveling, camping, hunting and fishing.
